We Are a European Movement

ELIL’s activities are made possible by the remarkable spirit of European collaboration and solidarity which sees full-time Greek lawyers working alongside volunteer European lawyers. Our work has been possible thanks to the support of over 350 people from across the continent who have volunteered with us, sharing their experience, skills and knowledge.

People assisted by ELIL

Since June 2016, we have provided legal assistance to over 16,000 refugees in Greece and Poland. For a fair and effective asylum procedure, it is crucial that asylum seekers have access to a lawyer. Of the people we assisted, 69.7% were granted asylum, compared to a national average of 32%.

*The green circles are proportional and combined represent over 80% of our cases. Blue circles are assigned for countries that each represent less than 1% of total ELIL’s cases.
